Behind the Scenes of "Lord of War"

"Lord of War" was written, produced, and directed by Andrew Niccol, who also co-produced the film alongside Nicolas Cage. The movie was released in the United States in 2005 and was met with positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

One interesting aspect of the production is the way in which the film was funded. American studios were initially hesitant to fund the project due to the politically sensitive themes during the Iraq War and the need for filming in 12 different countries. As a result, producer Philippe Rousselet had to rely on a variety of tax incentives, bank loans, and distribution agreements to finance the movie.

The film's focus on illicit arms trafficking also caught the attention of human rights group Amnesty International, who officially endorsed the film for highlighting the issue. "Lord of War" features a talented cast, including Nicolas Cage, Jared Leto, and Ethan Hawke, and was praised for its gripping storyline and thought-provoking themes.

Cast of "Lord of War"

Bridget Moynahan plays Ava Fontaine, Yuri's love interest and eventual wife. Moynahan is best known for her work on the television series "Blue Bloods" and in films such as "I, Robot" and "John Wick."

Donald Sutherland plays Simeon Weisz, Yuri's rival in the arms trade. Sutherland has been involved in numerous films and television shows throughout his career, including "The Hunger Games" series, "M*A*S*H," and "Pride & Prejudice."

Andrew Niccol wrote, directed, and produced "Lord of War." Niccol is known for his work as a writer on films such as "The Truman Show" and "Gattaca," as well as for his work as a director on films such as "In Time" and "Good Kill."
