Geostorm Plot Summary

Geostorm is a science-fiction disaster film that takes place in the near future, where a system of climate-controlling satellites called "Dutch Boy" has been created to prevent natural disasters. After the system neutralizes a typhoon in Shanghai, its chief architect Jake Lawson is reprimanded by a US Senate subcommittee for bringing Dutch Boy online without authorization. He is replaced by his younger brother Max, who works under US Secretary of State Leonard Dekkom.

Three years later, a UN team discovers a frozen village in the Registan Desert, and an Indian engineer working on the International Climate Space Station (ICSS) is killed in a supposed accident. Jake is persuaded to go to the ICSS to investigate and discovers that the satellites have been damaged and their data erased. With the help of the ICSS crew, he uncovers a computer virus causing the malfunctions and wiping out the login access of key senior people to the satellite.
