The Plot of Big Stan

Big Stan tells the story of Stan Minton, a wealthy real estate con artist, who is arrested for conning elderly people out of their savings. He hires a new lawyer, Lew Popper, for his sentencing, but is shocked to learn that he has been sentenced to 3 years in prison. As he awaits his sentence, he hires a martial arts guru, known as "The Master," to teach him how to survive in prison.

When Stan is sent to prison, he befriends an elderly inmate named Larry and learns more about the cliques and gang activities formed inside the prison. He uses his martial arts skills to bring peace and harmony to the prison yard by intimidating his fellow inmates. He gains their respect and eventually becomes their leader.

However, the corrupt warden has plans to force the closure of the prison with a riot and sell off the property as valuable real estate. Stan helps him with the real estate aspects in exchange for early parole. However, his peacemaking efforts threaten the warden's plan, and he is persuaded to bring back violence. In a last-minute attack of conscience, he deliberately blows the parole hearing to prevent the deaths of his fellow inmates, but he discovers that his message of peace has sunk in, and the prisoners are dancing instead of fighting.

Big Stan: A Comedy That Fails to Deliver

While Big Stan has an interesting premise and a talented cast, the execution falls short. The film tries to balance comedy with action, but the mix is uneven, with the comedy often feeling forced and the action scenes underwhelming. The jokes are often crude and offensive, and the film relies too heavily on stereotypes and clichés.

Despite the efforts of the cast, the characters are one-dimensional and lack depth. Even Rob Schneider's character, Stan Minton, fails to elicit sympathy or empathy from the audience. The plot is predictable, and the resolution feels rushed and unsatisfying.

Overall, while Big Stan may have its moments, it is a forgettable film that fails to deliver on its promise. If you're looking for a prison comedy, there are better options out there.
